About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Join Physical Therapist Ellison Melrose and Sam Lemminger with Onward Physical Therapy for a pelvic floor workshop. This workshop will guide you in understanding and activating your pelvic floor muscles, the foundation of core stability and overall well-being. Whether you're navigating postpartum recovery, seeking better urinary control as you age, or simply wanting to deepen your yoga practice, this session offers practical tools and insights for everyone.

In this workshop, you will learn:

*The vital role of your pelvic floor:

* Discover how these often-overlooked muscles support your core, posture, and organ health.

*Finding your Transverse Abdominals

*Learn effective techniques to engage this deep core muscle, especially within dynamic yoga postures like Chair Pose and Malasana. We'll explore how to find this activation *without* relying on tucking your tailbone.

*Squatting with Awareness: Understand how to maintain a neutral pelvis in squatting movements, promoting healthy alignment and preventing unnecessary strain.

*The Art of Cueing: Gain clear and accessible cues to help you understand when and how to engage and relax your pelvic floor muscles throughout your day and during movement.

*Strengthening and Releasing: Explore gentle yet effective exercises to build pelvic floor strength and learn techniques to release tension for optimal function.

*Addressing Common Concerns:* We will discuss how pelvic floor awareness can support recovery after childbirth, improve urinary control as we age, and address other related issues.

*Understanding Pelvic Tilts: Debunking the "old school" posterior tilt, we'll explore the importance of neutral and healthy pelvic alignment and how gentle tilts can improve awareness and function.

This workshop is for you if:

* You want to understand and connect with your pelvic floor muscles.

* You struggle to engage your deep core in yoga or daily activities.

* You're experiencing issues related to postpartum recovery or urinary control.

* You tend to over-tuck your tailbone in squats and want to find a more balanced approach.

* You're curious about the importance of pelvic alignment for overall well-being.

* You're a yoga teacher looking for effective cues to guide your students in pelvic floor awareness.

* ALL GENDERS WELCOME

Come prepared to move gently, learn practical techniques, and cultivate a deeper connection to your inner strength.
