Where to park/meet?

Accepted Answer

Please park in the upper parking lot (by bathrooms) of the Whisky Run Trails and check in at the yellow canopy. We will then make our way on foot (or on bike) to the lower parking lot to start the competion. At 3:30, the award ceremony and after party will take place at the upper parking lot.

Question 2

Where will we be riding?

Accepted Answer

Participants will have the option to mountain bike on any of the trails at Whisky Run. That being said, we will provide you a "gorse course" which will highlight the trails that are dominated by gorse seedlings. These trails are primarily around the lower parking lot.

Question 3

Gorse leaves are very sharp, will it hurt to hand pull?

Accepted Answer

We will be targeting seedlings, which have much less poky leaves. We will provide gloves to make it comfortable for you while you remove these invasives from the ecosystem. The spines should not bother you during this event, but the full-grown plants will, which is even more of a reason to join us!

Question 4

What if my mountain bike breaks down?

Accepted Answer

Front Street Community Bike Works to the rescue (FSCBW)! Simply walk your bike back to the lower parking lot where FSCBW will be set up with a repair station to get you back out on the trail!

Question 5

What if I don't have a bike but would still like to participate?

Accepted Answer

We will do our best to match you with a mountain bike, but it depends on availability. Please reach out to Engagement@cooswatershed.org.
