Overview

This free group will feature a therapy dog as well as their dedicated handler, both specially trained to offer support in group situations.

NAMI Mahoning Valley recognizes the positive impact our furry friends have on our mental health journey and we are excited to debut our new Pawsitive Minds group! Interaction with therapy animals has been proven to reduce stress, anxiety and help improve depression as well as lower blood pressure and cortisol levels (the stress hormone). Stress, anxiety and depression are something that everyone deals with at some point in their lives and these well-trained, supportive animals help with their nonjudgemental attitudes and loving dispositions.
