Pattern Testing for Drone Applicators: A Fly-In Event

By University of Kentucky

Overview

Optimizing Swath Width in Drone Applications

University of Kentucky Plant Pathologists and Biosystem and Ag Engineering faculty will present the latest research on optimizing spray applications through swath width testing, and provide an opportunity for individual applicators to test the swath of their own spray drone using technology provided by UK.

Sign in begins at 10:00 am CST.

Presentation will begin at 10:30, followed with a provided lunch. We will then move outdoors where applicators will fly their drone over a set swath collection apparatus and UK faculty and staff will analyze the application pattern and coverage. A report with your data will be sent by email.

Two ticket options:

OPTION 1: Attend the presentation, lunch, then fly your drone to test swath width and spray pattern.

  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION!! Applicators testing drones must be compliant, and have at a minimum, the Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, and if required, section 44807 exemption, Part 137 license to operate an agricultural spray drone, and if applicable, a Part 137 exemption. All drones must be registered with the FAA and comply with Remote ID. Dye used to measure coverage is a washable food-safe dye that will not stain equipment. No pesticides will be applied.

OPTION 2: Attend the presentation, lunch, then feel free to stay and observe drone testing.
