Patching Clinic: Learn Max, RNBO, Max for Live and Move
This is an in-person session for music makers and developers who are curious about Max — whether you want to start your Max journey or go deeper with Max, RNBO, Max for Live, and developing for RNBO Takeover Mode on Move.
Led by Cycling '74's Tom Hall along with Ian Dicke (Novel Music), Philip Meyer (Max Certified Trainer), and Ashlin Hunter (Max Certified Trainer), the day moves through four focused sessions plus a Q&A round table. You'll see how working developers and educators approach professional Max for Live device design, get a hands-on introduction to Max for newcomers, and dig into working with RNBO — from your first patch through to running it on Ableton Move.
The day covers:
- Making Professional Max for Live Devices — learn what separates a polished, ship-ready device from a sketch, plus navigating its release · Ian Dicke & Philip Meyer
- Introduction to Max — a ground-up start for anyone new to the environment · Ashlin Hunter
- Getting Started with RNBO — an introductory workshop on Cycling '74's code-export framework · Tom Hall
- Max for Live Development Q&A Round Table — bring your Max for Live devices, questions, and production challenges · Ian Dicke & Philip Meyer
- RNBO Takeover Mode with Ableton Move — patch directly onto Move and build a working sequencer from scratch · Tom Hall
Requirements for workshops: a laptop computer with the Max + RNBO demo downloaded and installed. Ableton Moves for use during the workshop will be supplied by Ableton.
