Patch Making
The Shiny Shop invites you to be seen, be safe, and be shiny through a series of free drop-in art making and repair workshops.
Patch Making
Part of The Shiny Shop Public Hours
Hosted by Alex Makes Art (AMA)
🕑 Public Hours: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
🪩 Drop-In Style. Come by anytime during public hours!
Transform scraps, textures, and playful materials into custom wearable artworks during this hands-on patch making activation at The Shiny Shop. Participants are invited to design patches that can mend, decorate, personalize, or completely reinvent favorite garments and accessories through color, layering, stitching, and embellishment.
Whether you’re creating something subtle and sentimental or loud and expressive, patch making offers a joyful way to celebrate individuality, sustainability, and the stories carried through the things we wear every day.
Guests are welcome to make patches for jackets, tote bags, denim, bike gear, hats, backpacks, or future repair projects with plenty of room for experimentation and creative exploration.
✨ Materials include:
• Felt & fabric scraps
• Fabric glue & adhesives
• Embroidery floss
• Needles & stitching tools
• Scissors & trimming materials
No sewing experience required. Participants can choose between no-sew, lightly stitched, or more detailed embroidered approaches depending on comfort level and desired style.
Perfect for all ages, creative comfort zones, and fashion personalities; from tiny decorative accents to bold statement pieces.
📍 Arrival Notes: Guests may enter through the front lobby doors and will find The Shiny Shop just inside the first door past the lobby. You’re also welcome to knock on our windows from the outside of the shop if you need help finding us — we’re happy to wave you in.
🎟️ Free to attend, though registration is encouraged to help us prepare materials and keep the magic flowing. Learn more and explore additional happenings through The Shiny Shop via Alex Makes Art
