About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Join us for a very special event with botanist Claudia Knab-Vispo and the team from Farmscape Ecology. They will be leading participants on a lovely summer morning walking tour of Churchtown Dairy's pasture. As we walk and take in our surroundings, our hosts will identify plants that grow in our pasture and explain their role within the greater whole.

The Farmscape Ecology Program has recently published From the Hudson to the Taconics: An Ecological and Cultural Field Guide to the Habitats of Columbia County, New York, a fantastic resource for understanding habitats through multiple lenses, including history, culture, sensory immersion, and ecology. They will be referencing the book as a guide.

Before the group heads out to the fields, we will enjoy iced sun tea from the garden, coffee and a light breakfast cheese board.

Churchtown Dairy is a working bio-dynamic farm that intends to serve as a beacon for those working to promote regenerative agriculture and sustainable communities.  We support the development of resilient and sustainable food systems while raising public awareness of the positive impacts ecological agriculture can have on the health of the human being and the earth.  We strive to imbue all our work with beauty—the buildings, the gardens, the care for the animals, and the economic and social systems within which we work.
