How many people can come to the birthday party?

Accepted Answer

The party package includes 15 spaces for party attendants (including adults).  If you would like more guests to attend, there is an additional $20 fee per person with a maximum of five additional guests.

Question 2

Will the children be able to touch and interact with dogs or cats?

Accepted Answer

The population at our shelter changes daily. We cannot guarantee a hands-on experience, but you will see some beautiful animals during the shelter tour.

Question 3

Can children ages 6 and below attend the party?

Accepted Answer

We will not host a party for children under seven for safety reasons. We will make an exception for the birthday child's younger siblings. We ask that in doing so, a designated parent/guardian will be responsible for monitoring that child.

Question 4

Can we donate during our birthday experience?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We encourage everyone interested to donate items we need for the animals. We have included our Wishlist to ensure you find the things we need when you come. As the seasons change, so do the needs of the shelter. Thank you!

Question 5

What is your cancellation process?

Accepted Answer

For cancellations made more than 4 weeks before the party date, a refund (minus a $75) administrative fee) will be granted. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than four weeks before the party date, and the entire party fee will be forfeited.

Question 6

Can we set up and decorate the party space beforehand?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we will allow a parent/guardian to add the finishing touches to our space for 30 minutes before your time and drop off any items for the party. You may decorate the tops of the tables. You may not hang anything from the walls or the ceiling.

Question 7

Are there any decorations I cannot have?

Streamers, confetti, string-a-can, silly string, inflatables (of any kind), piñatas, etc. are prohibited.

Question 8

Are there places to store party items?

Accepted Answer

Due to the nature of our shelter environment, we do not have any storage facilities for food or gifts before or after your event.

Question 9

What should we wear?

Accepted Answer

Comfortable and casual clothes. We prefer that everyone wears pants that cover and protect their legs, and closed-toed shoes are always better as you will be walking through the kennels and spaces with live animals.

Where do we park?

Accepted Answer

There is two-hour parking on Raymond. Our underground garage has limited parking.  Additional parking can be found at the Del Mar Train Station. The first 2 hours are $1.00, and $2 each hour after that.

Question 11

Do you provide any food?

Accepted Answer

No, we leave that up to the parent/guardian; since so many dietary preferences exist, we ask that you supply the food (pizza, cake, etc.).

Question 12

Can we get help loading and unloading party items to and from our car?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately, we are prohibited from helping carry items to and from your car. You are responsible for bringing and taking all items from the event.

Question 13

Can I bring music to the event?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we just ask that you keep it at a volume that does not disturb the animals at the shelter.
