Love and Logic Memoir Writing Workshop
Parent like a Pro
This workshop will help parents and families Address the effects of the pandemic by using the craft of memoir writing as a means to mitigate the stresses and celebrate the joys of being a parent.
At YWCA Ulster County, we believe in writing and storytelling as a form of social justice, and that memoir writing in particular can be a means of self-discovery and transformation. This writing workshop will help parents nurture their creative spirits as they become more aware of the choices they make daily to create a home life where children are greatly appreciated and guided towards making their own good choices. No previous writing experience is required.
With specific writing exercises geared towards reflection on their own childhoods as well as their experience of being parents, participants will have the opportunity to write and workshop their stories within a safe class setting. There is so much that can be learned by bearing witness to our peers and from sharing the results of deep periods of reflection.
The skills component of this workshop, Rooted in the Principles of Love & Logic will result in a parenting blueprint that expresses each parents innate wisdom that optimizes their approaches. As Maya Angelou says: "We need to remember that we are all created, creative, and can invent new scenarios as frequently as they are needed".
