Event Title: Parent Education Classes: Enhancing Parenting Skills

Series: Part 1 of 2

Description:

Parenting is a tough yet fulfilling task that requires comprehensive knowledge, immense patience, and nurturing abilities. To provide support to parents, we are organizing a Parent Education Class that is focused on enlightening parents about various aspects of child growth, development, safety, nutrition, discipline, and more. We'll also touch on the development of children's independence, behavioral management, and problem-solving strategies. Special case scenarios will also be included.

Sessions Details:

The seminar is divided into one or two sessions with a total duration of six hours. Topics to be discussed in the sessions include:

1) Emotional impact of divorce on children and parents: Understand how separation or divorce affects both children and parents on an emotional level.

2) Developmental stages of children: Delve into various stages of a child's development and how a split family impacts these stages.

3) Changes in the parent-child relationship: Discussion about the shift in relationship dynamics post-divorce.

4) Discipline: Learn effective methods to establish discipline in a gentle, supportive way.

5) Transitions between households: Explore ways to make transitions between households smoother for children.

6) Skill-building: Learn effective communication, explaining divorce to children, decision-making, problem-solving techniques, conflict resolution, coping strategies, helping children adjust to family changes, and avoiding inappropriate interactions with children.

7) Resources for cases of domestic violence, child abuse, and neglect: Resources available for situations of domestic violence, child abuse, and neglect will be shared.

Moreover, the Maryland Parenting Plan Tool will be discussed and guidance on the development of a comprehensive parenting plan will be provided.
