Overview

The challenges and rewards of a multi-hyphenated creative

As creatives we can rarely contain our need for expression to one outlet. The desire to create can manifest itself in many forms: from paper to screen, from film to stage, whatever method of exhibition that fits the mood. In Parallels, we explore how creativity often flourishes across multiple platforms simultaneously, how it comes to be, how it inspires and how to manage it.

In this installment of Parallels, Tito Deler will share his creative story: growing up in NYC in the 70s and 80s, entering graphic design in the 90s, and becoming a design leader in fashion; all while channeling his musical talents into a parallel career as a touring blues musician.

About the Speaker

Tito Deler
I was born and raised in Manhattan NYC, first generation immigrant parents from the Dominican Republic. My father was a carpenter and super (of a few buildings on the upper west side), my mother a piece-work garment district seamstress and homemaker. I have three older sisters - the first danced on soul train, the second played CBGBs and the third is an OG 1st generation B-Girl.
