Panoply is an network assessment/defense competition combined into a single event.  Panoply is a free official competition brought to you by Black Hat virtually for their attendees before the conference. The competition is conducted by the CIAS - founders of Panoply and the US National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition.

What can I win?

A grand prize will be awarded to the contestant with the highest score. The grand prize is a Black Hat Black Card valid for a full Briefing pass to a Black Hat 2121 core event (Asia, USA, or Europe)

Second place will receive a Black Hat Ogio Backpack. 

Third place will receive a Black Hat water bottle.

 Is it hard?

We have targets for all skill levels ranging in difficulty from metapsploit 101 to turn key hardened systems. We even have tutorials in the environment so for those of you that may have never rooted a single box in your life but have always wanted to, here is your chance! Overall difficulty in winning is determined by the skill level of other participants.

 I'm registered, now what?

You'll be emailed with VPN/target information on how to connect and play. 

 Who can play and are there ID requirements?

The Panoply competition is open to any Black Hat Europe 2020 attendee excluding employees of Black Hat and the University of Texas at San Antonio. To play, simply register below. After you are registered competition officials will contact you with your player token, VPN credentials, and other information. Winners will be verified as Black Hat attendees mailed their prizes after the conference.

 Register for Panoply using the same name and email you used to register for Black Hat Europe 2020. Only conference attendees are eligible to win - registered competition email will be checked against the Black Hat registered attendees database by Black Hat personnel to determine eligibility. 

  How do I compete in a virtual event?

You will need your own laptop/desktop with whatever OS you are comfortable using and any open source or commercial assessment, exploitation, or scanning tools you prefer. You will also need an internet connection as well as the OpenVPN client installed on your assessment platform.

How do I connect to the competition network?

Once registered, you’ll be provided with credentials for the network, VPN information and the address of the competition portal which contains the target list for the day, point values, rules, etc…

 Do I have to play the entire time?

Absolutely not!  Players can jump in and out of the Panoply environment at will.  You can play for as little or as long as you’d like.
