Painted Threads

Painted Threads

Overview

Join us at the Old Bakery & Emporium for a lecture and a live quilt-painting demonstration by local artist Sherri Lipman McCauley.

Let your inner artist run wild by joining Sherri Lipman McCauley in her painted threads workshop! The artist walks the audience through her process, takes you on an expressive journey where paints and fabrics combine to create an interesting mixed-media art technique, and makes abstract visions come to life.

Wild and Woven: Two Perspectives in Contemporary Art Quilting will be on display in the Old Bakery's Fine Art Gallery from August 22nd - October 26th, 2026. Contrasting realism and abstraction, the exhibition showcases the forte of Annette Kennedy and Sherri Lipman McCauley. Using paint on fabric, each artist expresses their vision and creativity. The works explore the contrast of artistry.

About the Old Bakery & Emporium:

The Old Bakery & Emporium was built in 1876 by Swedish immigrant Charles Lundberg. Midsummer, or Midsommar, is a traditional Swedish holiday celebrating the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. The Old Bakery hosts Midsummer as a tribute to the building’s Swedish-American heritage.
