Rollin Smoke Meats N’ Sweets are a locally owned and family run catering / food truck company. Owned by Shawn and Renee Weddle, who have lived in Smithsburg for 21 years and they are proud to call it home! They started their business in November of 2020 and have been blessed by the support of our community. Currently they own one of the largest food truck and catering service in Washington County and are proud to be a part of many life events in our community. They serve the BEST BBQ and fresh baked goods in the area. From brisket, to pork and chicken too, sides like baked beans, mac and cheese, coleslaw, hand cut fries and so much more. Their delicious food is available across both Washington and Franklin counties most days as their food truck moves from location to location. And you can bring these amazing foods to your location via their private catering events – but don’t let the name confuse you – they can do much more than just BBQ! Check them out on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/rollinsmokemeatsnsweets for their food truck menu as well as pictures of their delicious food! Reach out them at 240-446-9547 or rollinsmokemeatsnsweets@gmail.com. We can’t wait to have them join us down on the farm!

PAINTED PASTURES is a beautiful 12-acre farm in Smithsburg that has become home to some uniquely charming animals since January 2020. It was given the name Painted Pastures because it so perfectly describes the place. It is like a little piece of heaven where flowers bloom and visitors, are greeted by friendly multicolored Nigerian Dwarf goats and clucking chickens with shiny red, white and black feathers. Owner Lori Anderson can be found on the farm just about any day of the week, tending to her animals and flowers with her beloved canine companion Anne. Everyone is invited to visit this friendly place to see the goats, chickens, sheep, and horses. Ronnie the Rooster will be there to greet all the guests and keep all his animal friends in line. The Nigerian Dwarf goats are the star of this show (shh don’t tell Ronnie). The fields are a perfect play yard where they climb, jump and head butt each other knowing they are safe and loved. In the spring, the field is full of “kids” ( baby goats) and their mommies. It is quite the sight to see. “There is something very special about the atmosphere here. It makes people feel good and makes them forget about their troubles,” Lori says.

Lori raises her goats for their rich milk which she then uses to make soaps, lotions, balms, sugar scrubs and bath bombs. These goat milk personal care products are naturally emollient, and the soaps come in a wide variety of colors and fragrances. All are great to give as gifts or for daily use in your home. The Farm store is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and is filled with these products and many unique and one-of-a-kind pieces from other local artisans. You can also find their products at The Market Hub, Old Home Stead, McCutcheon Apple Products, Scenic View Orchard, and Deliteful Dairy. There is a lot of beauty on this quaint farm property. Along with the goat milk products, Lori raises and sells fresh cut flowers. They are grown in a hoop greenhouse just down the hill from the goat barn. During the summer months, she runs a roadside flower stand at the end of her driveway. Gorgeous bouquets of fresh flowers are available to purchase starting at $15 each. She says that she employs the “honor system” at the flower stand and it has worked out quite well.

Lori has an amazing green thumb and is available to create beautiful flowers for all your special events – like weddings, bridal showers, birthday parties and even prom flowers. No matter the occasion and even if you just need a bouquet to bring joy to your table, be sure to give Lori a call! Many of the flowers she uses in her arrangements are grow right here on the farm, in the flower garden or hoop house!

These Farm to Table event is just a small part of Lori’s mission to share this little slice of heaven with the rest of the world! She also hosts craft classes each week – things like painted gourds, macrame plant hangers and wood flower arrangements. The farm is also available to host your small special events like bridal showers and birthday parties.

Please remember your patronage of our special events /classes and purchases from the Farm Store are vital for us to be able to continue to take care of our animals in the way they deserve and at this point, allow hands on visits with the mommies and babies with no admission fee. BUT there may be weekends, when extra help is not available to supervise, so please understand that there may be times when field visits are not available. Everyone is always welcome to visit from outside the fence during regular store hours. Parents are also reminded that they MUST supervise their children at all times and follow all the posted rules. This is the animals' home and all the toys are there for their enjoyment. Thank you!
