ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Paige McClanahan is an American journalist based in France. A regular contributor to The New York Times, she has reported from more than a dozen countries, writing for publications like The Guardian, the BBC, and The Washington Post, among many others. Her reporting has covered multilateral trade negotiations, humanitarian crises, economic development, and, for the past five years, the tourism industry. Her travel journalism has been recognized by The Society of American Travel Writers and the North American Travel Journalists Association. A graduate of Williams College and Duke University, she has lived in five countries since she left the United States in 2008.
ABOUT THE MODERATOR
Vincie Ho, Ph.D. is the Founder and Executive Director of RISE Travel Institute, a 501(c)3 nonprofit with a mission to create a more just and equitable world through travel education. She also serves on the faculty at Antioch University, teaching human rights for their graduate programs in humane education. A disruptor, nonprofit leader, seasoned educator and woman immigrant of color with a hearing disability, Vincie is dedicated to driving systems change and fostering a community of conscious travelers through creating space for critical and intersectional conversations on power dynamics and justice issues in travel and beyond. In recognition of her impactful work, Vincie was nominated by tourism industry peers and honored on TravelPulse's prestigious List of Most Influential Women in Travel for 2024.
Vincie is an accredited carbon literacy trainer and a certified DEI professional. She holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics and graduate-level and professional certificates in various areas such as humane education, sustainable tourism, social change leadership, international peace and human rights, and teaching French as a foreign language.
