About this event

Welcome to Pagosa Paddle! On Saturday, May 11, the San Juan River will have a surge of boaters competing for cash and prizes during the annual Pagosa Paddle whitewater races. This is a sanctioned regional qualifier for the Nationals in Clackamas Oregon the following weekend. All athletes need to provide their own equipment and a helmet and PFD are required to be worn at all times during participation in Pagosa Paddle.

Not up for paddling? Come out to cheer on these athletes as they go through the downtown water features that make up the whitewater park on the San Juan River through downtown Pagosa Springs. Spectators can watch the action from above at the Overlook viewing point, alongside the almost famous river walk or from the healing waters at The Springs Resort. We are collaborating again with The Springs Resort during their Pints, Pools and Paddles event. All Pagosa Paddle participants will receive a FREE soaking pass. Even better, the first 25 athletes to register will receive a special edition Pagosa Paddle t-shirt and a full access pass to Pints, Pools and Paddles which means soaking and beer tasting after the race!! Grab your paddle and support Friends of the Upper San Juan River for this awesome fundraising event.

Organized by

We are an organization whose primary mission is to promote environmentally sound, socially beneficial and economically prosperous management of the Upper San Juan River and Pagosa Springs community parks experience through education, recreation and environmental awareness.

Every year we work to be better stewards of our local river, parks and environment; while having fun and encouraging others to do the same.  We host fun races, disc golf tournaments, whitewater competitions, skateboarding, and snow sport activities; all as fundraisers for improvement projects to the Upper San Juan River and Pagosa Springs community parks. We have donated money and countless hours of volunteer labor cleaning up the river, helping construct whitewater features and Pagosa Springs Riverwalk improvements.
