Abstract: Ligato is an open-source platform for cloud-native network functions.   It leverages the <A HREF="http://fd.io/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">fd.io</A> VPP (Vector Packet Processing) open-source packet processing stack, is implemented in the Go programming language and relies on cloud-native tools such as the etcd distributed data-store.   Use-cases for Ligato include implementation of a high-performance Kubernetes networking stack, as well as NFV applications such as virtual firewalls.  In this presentation we will provide an overview of the Ligato project, its architecture and implementation, and our future plans. Bio: Giles Heron is a Principal Engineer at Cisco Systems, and is based in London.  His current focus is on high-performance container-networking solutions.  Before joining Cisco Giles was a Principal Network Architect at BT.  Giles is one of the inventors of the MPLS pseudowire technology, and served as co-chair of the IETF L2VPN Working Group. 10.40 am ‘Addressing challenges in container networking in a Kubernetes Bare Metal environment’ By Haidee McMahon, Intel
Abstract: Learn how Intel and partners addressed barriers to adoption for container networking in a Kubernetes Bare Metal environment by the introduction of new technologies and the container experience kits.
Bio: Haidee McMahon has over 20 years in software development, with previous leadership roles in multi-national companies Analog Devices and EDS, and C-executive role in SaaS start-up company Tranzaura. Haidee now works in Intel in the Software Defined Datacenter division as Technical Solutions Marketing Manager.

Abstract: As a developer, security is something you know you have to handle, but that doesn't mean you have to figure it all out yourself. Application security complexity can be reduced if planned into development from the start.  In this talk, experts from the IBM Cloud Container Service (ICCS) team will discuss what it means to build and run a secure application and how Kubernetes-as-a-service is the ideal platform. We will discuss how to achieve a secure Kubernetes cluster, how to handle network security, how to build security awareness into your CI/CD pipeline, and how IBM is building trust to the hardware level using Intel.

15.05 pm ‘Edge Cloud and Network Edge Virtualisation – Towards 5G ready applications’ By Anurag Ranjan, Intel
Abstract: Edge Cloud opens up the network for the Communication Service Providers and the Cloud Service Providers to new revenue opportunities by unlocking the edge network.  Shifting applications and analytics closer to the end user provides a better customer experience while also allowing the right applications to be pushed to the edge. Edge Cloud is one way that the CoSPs and the CSPs can create and capture value in their networks and data-centers on the path to 5G which will be a more agile and flexible infrastructure.
