Oxford's Introductory Monument Preservation Workshop

Welcome to Oxford's inaugural Monument Preservation Workshop with Oxford's family-owned business Verville Preservation. The City of Oxford is hosting local experts Michael & Hilary Verville, who will conduct a workshop to help us clean, stabilize, and coordinate future repairs.

Join us at the Old Oxford Cemetery for a hands-on experience in learning how to preserve and protect historical monuments. This in-person event will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to maintain these valuable pieces of history for future generations. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to make a difference in our city!

Workshop Details: The workshop includes a monument materials and safety lecture, demonstration of proper cleaning, and discussion of basic maintenance issues, as well as hands-on minor repair techniques for resetting unbroken headstones and foot-stones, and re-attaching unbroken headstones to bases. Tickets include tools and materials to use during the workshop.

Workshops are limited to 20 participants. If tickets reach capacity or you can't make this date, please contact Mayor Nurse at mayor@oxfordnc.org for future workshops.

Rain Date: In case of rain on Saturday, we will host it on Sunday, May 19 1-4PM.
