Overview of Emergency Pet Sheltering For MRC

This presentation will provide an overview of emergency pet sheltering with County Animal Response Teams (CART) and discuss management of Service Animals in a public emergency evacuation shelter. Federal regulations that protect and define Service Animals will be reviewed. Information will include preparing equipment, safety measures, and training your shelter team how to distinguish between an Emotional Support Animal versus a Service Animal. The discussion will include how to use the County Animal Response Team (CART) for assistance with Service Animals and the procedures used to house Emotional Support Animals in a CART Shelter.
