The Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati, Inc. was created in 1948 as a non-profit educational organization to promote interest in handweaving. Today, the Guild offers education in a wide range of fiber processes and techniques, including weaving, felting, spinning, basketry, knitting, and dyeing. Guild members are from the Cincinnati metropolitan area and surrounding communities, as well as from Kentucky and Indiana.Members range in experience from beginners to professionals. All benefit from the Guild's priorities: education through classes, workshops, programs, study groups; sharing information and fiber techniques with other members and community groups; and promoting and supporting local fiber producers and businesses.After 50 years of meeting in various churches throughout Greater Cincinnati, the Guild has its own home at 4870 Gray Road in Spring Grove Village.

<h1>Overshot Patterned Doubleweave</h1><h3>Saturday, October 28, 2023, 9:30 am – 4:00 pm</h3><h3>Instructor: Barb Gallagher</h3>$75 for the classClass limit: 6Material fees. $10 for handoutsSkills needed: Must be able to warp a loom independently and thread from a draftSounds crazy! But if you don’t like the floats in overshot – this eliminates them. If you don’t like double weave on 4 shafts because you can only do plain weave – this will give you patterns. Learn how to take any overshot pattern and turn it into this technique. We’ll start off with an overview of doubleweave. Then you’ll learn how to take an overshot draft, do some magic – and create these patterns. And then - practice how to weave. It’s really a lot of fun! Students need to bring: a warped 4 shaft loom at least 8” wide, yarns to use for weft – (same as your warp), and normal weaving tools and supplies. Threading information and directions sent upon registration.Homework : Shaft loom weavers you can choose what yarn and sett you prefer. Suggested yarns are 5/2 cotton @ 32epi, 10/2 cotton @ 48 epi, or 3/2 cotton @ 24 epi. If you’d like to be adventurous, you could try some 8/2 tencel @ 40 epi or 5/2 bamboo @ 32 epi. 8” weaving width is suggested, but you can warp narrower.Supplies to Bring:<ul><li>a warped 4 shaft loom at least 8” wide</li><li>yarns to use for weft – (same as your warp)</li><li>normal weaving tools and supplies. </li><li>Your lunch and beverages</li></ul>Problems registering? If so, you will be notified before the first class.Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
