Over the Top Rail Jam

Show off your skills at the Over The Top Rail Jam on Sunday, April 28th located on the summit ridgeline of Crystal Mountain overlooking Mt. Rainier. Bring your A-game to win some sweet prizes from our rad sponsors, or just come out, cheer on the competitors and have fun. Great viewing is available right from the gondola! Prizes will be given to 1st place in each category. Plus, Red Bull will have their team on hill making sure the energy stays high with free samples plus DJ Meglados will be pumping the tunes!

SCHEDULE

• 11am | Check-in opens, Location: Tower 16 (top of Gondola/summit)
• 1pm | Rail Jam kicks off, Location: Tower 16
• 2:30pm | End of Rail Jam competition, Location: Tower 16
• 3pm | Awards, Location: Tower 16

Please note all participants must have a valid pass or day lift ticket, complete Crystal Mountain Events Waiver and register with event hosts on day of event in order to compete. If you are under 18 and your parents will not be present you must download, print and complete the waiver here. Please be sure to bring this waiver with you to check-in.

Competition Rules & Format:

• Jam format with three judges scoring the runs.
• All participants MUST have a helmet.
• Various categories

Additional Information

• This is an all-ages event.
• Check-in begins at 11am at Tower 16 (top of gondola)
• Entry is FREE
• All participants must complete an event waiver
• Practice is held for participants only from 1:00 to 1:30 pm.
• The Jam begins at 1:30 pm
• Jam ends around 2:45pm
• Awards at 3pm

JUDGING CRITERIA

Scores based on an overall impression of a combination of factors:

• Degree of difficulty – How hard was that trick? Example – a backside 360 on a snowboard is not as difficult as a switch backside 360.
• Amplitude – How big did they go? Example – more airtime is cooler. Duh.
• Execution – Was it smooth? Did they ride away cleanly, no hands down, tight rotations, etc. Example – A smooth and clean 540 will most definitely outscore a wack 720.
• Variety – Multiple types of tricks. Example – the same rail slide the whole way down will not score as high as a run that approaches jibs differently with a variety of tricks.
• Style – …was it kinda rad?
