We’re on a mission to clean the planet, and we want you to be a part of it! Seriously though - our volunteer crew has so much fun cleaning the planet, and we want you to join the party :) We host 1 worldwide cleanup day on the first Saturday of every month, but you’re welcome to volunteer at any time, no matter where you are.
How it works:
— Go to your favorite outdoor spot
— Use the Litter CleanUp app to submit your cleanups (completely free and available on iOS and Android devices)
— Watch as the app automatically verifies your cleanups and tracks your total litter count and volunteer hours
— Connect with other volunteers on the “Trash Talk” page
You’re welcome to use cleanup equipment if you’d like (gloves, reacher, etc.), or you can just use a trash bag. Remember to be safe and always wash your hands after cleaning up. You can go alone, bring your dog along, invite some friends and family, or find other people out in your community that want to help!

You might think, “What harm does litter really do?“ Well unfortunately, we found out that it does a lot of harm. Litter blowing in the wind causes car crashes, sharp litter cuts people and animals, roadside litter results in roadkill, litter ruins wildlife habitats, and microplastics from litter end up in the food we eat and the water we drink. Yikes.
The good news? The solution is simple: pick up some litter every once in a while! We don’t expect you to whip out the Litter CleanUp app every time you see a candy wrapper on the sidewalk. But if you happen to pick up a candy wrapper sometime this month, that would be pretty sweet (pun intended).
We created the Litter CleanUp app because we want to make cleanups fun, social, and accessible for all. Volunteering for the planet should be fun, and you should feel good about doing good!
