Balin Schneider's documentary examines the short-lived rise to stardom of the beloved power pop trio from Chicago, whose hook-heavy sound was wedged in between the post-punk era of the late 80s and the alternative rock movement of the early 90s. Featuring interviews with former members Mike Zelenko and Ted Ansani, Out of Time preserves the legacy of a band who remains beloved in Chicago, but is often overlooked outside the city.
The presentation will be followed by a live concert featuring a diverse array of Chicago bands paying tribute to the legacy of Material Issue, including:
