About this event

Yoshimoto Orton Gillingham teaching sessions are action-oriented with auditory, visual, and kinesthetic elements reinforcing each other; spelling is simultaneously taught with reading.

OG Basic is a four-day structured literacy training that will focus on an Orton-Gillingham multisensory approach to teach reading, writing and spelling in any setting: general education classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one settings. This structured literacy training aligns with the CA Dyslexia Guidelines and supports the outcomes within the Common Core.

Ronald Yoshimoto, co-director of Orton Gillingham International, will facilitate this weeklong training.

Ron has focused his expertise on developing the O-G methodology for training public school teachers in the general and special education environments using O-G, O-G Advanced methodology, preschool literacy/numeracy, focused intervention, reading comprehension strategy (called “Connections”) and multisensory math.

His devotion includes countless materials that he has developed and shared selflessly with participants. Ron's life has been dedicated to teaching Orton-Gillingham to both general and special education audiences for the past 30+ years.

You are required to attend all 4 days of this event. The full-day training will take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday, June 17-21, 2024. There will be a $500 fee to districts for every no-show.

Please note* There is NO training on Wednesday due to the Juneteenth holiday.

This training is open to general and special education teachers as well as instructional coaches in Lake County.

O-G training includes all materials required for full implementation which are included in the cost of the course: multiple sound decks, scope and sequence, specific and clear correction procedures, lesson plans and much more. Further, there will be extensive support materials provided including thumb drives which include approximately 6,000 worksheets covering the concepts of syllabication, sounds, rules, and generalizations.

Lunch is on your own. We will have a 35 minute lunch break daily.
