THE TRIP was founded in 2012 in San Diego byTom DugdaleandJoshua Kahan Brody. We create multi-disciplinary, ensemble-celebrating performances that investigate new possibilities in narrative, audience engagement, and theatrical space.  We have worked site-specifically in locations ranging from a parking garage (Fool for Love) to a former military barracks (THE TRIP’s Macbeth) to one of San Diego’s hottest tattoo shops (Three Plays in a Tattoo Shop), where an audience member was (willingly!) tattooed as part of the performance. La Jolla Playhouse has supported two major productions by the company: a backyard barbecue staging of Thornton Wilder'sOur Townand Chekhov'sThree Sisterson a tennis court. The Trip'sOrpheus & Eurydice, a multi-platform adaptation of the myth through online content, live performance, and film, was nominated for Best New Play by the San Diego Critics Circle in 2014.

THE TRIP’S ORPHEUS & EURYDICE There once was a boy who loved a girl more than all the world. And the girl loved the boy back just as much. Like so many of us, they didn’t know where they were going, but they were going there together. And they were never looking back…
Through a blend of online content, live performance, and film, THE TRIP creates a new take on the Orpheus & Eurydice myth. The lovers meet and fall in love through a series of online videos that you can watch <A HREF="http://www.thetriptheater.net/orpheus--eurydice.html" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW</A>. They fall more and more in love until finally, unable to bear the distance any longer, they agree to meet in the flesh and get married! The rest of their story is then staged as a unique, site-specific performance at Strongwater Brewery.
The show begins at 7:30 PM sharp, but doors open at 7PM. We cordially invite you to come have a drink and celebrate with us before. The performance lasts approximately 90 minutes and there will be an informal talk back over drinks in the bar following the show. Tickets also available at the door. ------

 Orpheus & Eurydice premiered in San Diego in December 2014 and was nominated for Best New Play by the San Diego Theater Critics Circle. It subsequently had a sold out presentation at Theaterlab in New York City in July 2015.
