AAIS2020

Festival Origin², an international happening that has a digital presence and a physical presence.

Festival Origin² is produced by a collective of artists from the Interprofessional Studios at Architectural Association School of Architecture. The festival revolves around two live performances on opposite ends of the earth. Cybersapiens in Shanghai and Polyrhythm in London. Both events will have live attendees and be broadcasted online for international audiences. These live performances open up a discussion around the way we archive civilisations and recognisable patterns that are formed. Both events in Shanghai and London activate space through blurring the boundary between the virtual and the real. The events are linked to each other the way two circles with a centre form an elliptical shelter, embracing amongst the multiplicity of language and in which the two centre are independent and coexistent.

Cybersapiens (Shanghai)18 July 2021: 12:00 pm BST21 July 2021: 12:00 pm BSTThe deceptive nature of modern technology has created a virtual and comfortable shelter for us. Our body exists, but desire and cognition are immersed in the virtual. This performance will reshape the untouchable virtual electronic world in the real world. The dynamic physical space collides and blends with the unpredictable AR space, creating a shelter that blurs the boundary between reality and virtual space.

Polyrhythm (London)19 July 2021: 3:00 pm BST21 July 2021: 1:00 pm BSTThis performance will have a unique synergy and display a stylised way of telling a story. Inspired by the old story of the Tower of Babel, we have built a narrative and a collaborative structure that addresses the nuances of intellectual exchanges. Similar to a Polyrhythm, we layer individual creative expressions and voices.This performance creates a decentralised approach of experiencing a happening.

COVID-19 HEALTH AND SAFETY 
The following guidelines are to be respected when attending the Origin 2 Live performances in person in order to closely monitor the outbreak of coronavirus and the health &amp; safety of everyone: 
Please bring your negative COVID Antigen Test done on the day of the performance OR a proof that you are fully vaccinated. AA Students and Staff can get tested in the AA School of Architecture at 36 Beford Square from 10 am. Visit https://www.aaschool.ac.uk/coronavirus for more information. 
Please wear a mask throughout the performance and inside the venue. Our performers will not be wearing masks and will have been tested before entering the venue. 
Your temperature will be taken at the entrance and please note that we cannot allow you to join the performance if your temperature is above 37.8 C. 
Sanitize your hands regularly when arriving at the venue. The venue and facilities will be cleaned regularly before and after shows. 
Please ensure social distancing and keep at least 1 meter distance to other people around you inside the venue.
