About this event

  • 4 hours 30 minutes

African Bridge Network (ABN) creates a network for foreign-trained professionals in Massachusetts by connecting them with professional mentors, social service providers, community leaders, and other immigrant professionals. The workshops are designed to introduce immigrant professionals who have lived in the U.S. for fewer than five years to this network so that no time is lost in their successful integration.

The workshops follow a curriculum based on qualitative research of immigrants’ experience with integration into the U.S. and Boston specifically. Curriculum topics include maintaining legal immigrant status, finding a job and understanding workplace culture, building a career in the U.S., accessing healthcare, education, and social services, finding housing, and managing personal finances. The workshops are led by professionals in the various fields.

Some topics to be discussed at the workshop will be:

  • Finding a job and building a career in Massachusetts
  • Career Pathway Programs in Healthcare, IT, and other industries
  • Job application tips and creating a strong resume
  • Civil engagement resources
  • Resources to further your education
