The Brewery Running Series® was founded in Minneapolis, MN in 2012. We started with one event - a 5k at a local brewery in celebration of Global Running Day. While we might not be able to come together in person at this time, nothing can stop us from BEING ACTIVE, HAVING FUN, and GIVING BACK!Join us for our first (and hopefully only) monthly Oregon Virtual Distance Challenge, from April 1 - 30, 2020. 10% of proceeds go directly to the <a href="https://oregoncf.org/COVID" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Oregon Community Foundations: Covid-19 Relief Fund</a><h2>HOW IT WORKS:</h2><ol><li>Register for this event on Eventbrite</li><li><a href="https://www.strava.com/clubs/553339" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Join our club on Strava</a>* (it’s Free) to verify your miles</li><li>Submit your miles to us.</li><li>Win great prizes!</li></ol><blockquote>Once you have registered, we&#x27;ll send you a more detailed email with instructions for participation.</blockquote>At the end of April, we will look at your totals, verify them via your Strava account, and send out prizes within two weeks!<h3>BONUS: </h3>Every Saturday in April (5,12,19,26) we will host a virtual Happy Hour at noon via Zoom. Join us for a laid back time of connecting with each other and sharing fun quaRUNtine stories.Also, tag us in a post-challenge run/walk picture, and use the hashtags #orvirtualchallenge and #orbrs2020. This will enter you into our weekly virtual Happy Hour raffle where you can win even more great prizes!Be sure to enjoy your post run/walk cool downs with a tasty Oregon craft beer!*Don’t use Strava yet? No problem! Strava integrates with <a href="https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/sections/203774187-Apps-Integrations" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">MANY</a> popular run/walk tracking apps. By using Strava as the hub, it puts all of us in one place for the social distancing/sharing aspect of this challenge.<h2>THE PRIZES:</h2>(Mileage totals are counted from April 1-30, 2020)<ul><li>10 miles - SWAG - quaRUNtine Pint Glass *</li><li>25 miles - MERCH - quaRUNtine T-Shirt (unisex Next Level shirt) *</li><li>50 miles - EVENT - 1 free BRS 5k event entry (any future 2020 event)</li><li>100+ miles - BEER - 1 free growler + fill at any 2020 BRS event that you attend</li></ul>* Swag and Merch items will be mailed within a few weeks of you hitting your mileage levels.Scroll down to see images of the pint glass and t-shirt<h2>OTHER PERKS ALONG THE WAY:</h2>(Registration gives you access to these items)<ul><li>Local Oregon brewery deals, such as $5 off discounts for to-go orders of $20 or more will be distributed weekly for challenge registrants. Anyone that has sent in at least one run/walk in the prior 7 days is eligible.</li><li>Oregon Brewery Running Series Instagram/FB stories and posts shouting out the progress that everyone is making throughout the month.</li></ul>And more!<h2>GIVE BACK</h2>We are all about being active, having fun and giving back to our local community. Since our first season in 2016, we have given over $16k to local Oregon nonprofits. This event will add to that tally! 10% of all proceeds will go directly to the Oregon Community Foundations: Covid-19 Relief Fund. <h3>About The Oregon Community Foundation</h3><a href="https://oregoncf.org/COVID" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Oregon Community Foundation: Covid-19 Relief Fund</a> is focused on providing support for the most impacted and vulnerable in our community. The fund will be overseen by a committee of community leaders from across Oregon and will be providing aid to support Oregon communities and organizations affected by the recent outbreak of COVID-19. Funds will provide resources to organizations in our state working with individuals as well as businesses who are disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. Not only will you be rewarded for being active this month while enjoying great Oregon craft beers, you are also contributing to our states&#x27; response to COVID-19.<h2>FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:</h2>And other fine print details<ul><li>Where can I run? Run whenever and wherever you would like. We recommend staying relatively close to home. If you want to run 5-mile loops in your kitchen, who are we to say no.</li><li>What time does the run start? Feel free to run any time of day, every day that you are able, from April 1 until April 30, 2020.</li><li>Can I run with others? Yes, BUT Be sure to practice <a href="https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/coronavirus/coronavirus-social-distancing-and-self-quarantine" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">social distancing</a> procedures while out on your runs. Give other runners, walkers, and bicyclists AT LEAST 6&#x27; of distance when passing.</li><li>Is this run dog friendly? Of course it is. In fact, we recommend it.</li><li>How about kids and running strollers? You betcha! This challenge can keep the whole family active.</li><li>Do I HAVE to use Strava? Yes and no. We will be <a href="https://www.strava.com/clubs/orbrs" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">using Strava</a> to verify your runs. If you currently do NOT use it, please signup for a FREE account here. Then you can link whatever app you do use and never log in again.</li><li>How do I submit my miles? We will send you a very simple form to fill out once you are registered.</li><li>But I thought we&#x27;re using Strava? We are, but the form is just for us to keep track. Strava won&#x27;t give us all of your data in an easy to read format. Something about protecting your privacy ;-)</li><li>Where can I join the Strava club? <a href="https://www.strava.com/clubs/orbrs" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">HERE!</a></li></ul>For each run/walk that you complete, send or tag us on Instagram or Facebook in a post-challenge picture with your mileage listed (most running apps allow you to upload your run directly to social), and we will count your daily runs toward your monthly challenge total!Tag us @orbreweryrun and use the hashtags #orvirtualchallengeKeep an eye out - we will send you challenge updates weekly via email and social media!Questions?
