Session 3, More Orange Button APIs to Create & Extract Solar Finance Data

Take a deeper dive into Orange Button Open APIs to create and extract data used for solar financing. Attendees will be instructed on how to use the tools and documentation provided during Session 2 so that they can develop Orange Button compatible applications. Prerequisite: Orange Button Session 1 and Session 2

ABOUT ORANGE BUTTON:
Orange Button is an open data exchange standard for the distributed solar PV industry. Comprised of information models, a standard taxonomy, a standard Application Program Interface (API), and supporting compliance test suites, Orange Button enables the free flow of data between information systems used in the solar asset lifecycle.
A public/private partnership funded by the  <A HREF="http://energy.gov/sunshot" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">U.S. Department of Energy Sunshot Initiative</A>, Orange Button leverages the idea that commercial enterprises in the solar industry are incented, by market forces, to share data with each other in order to achieve operational efficiency and financial gain.
ABOUT THE TAXONOMY:
This taxonomy was developed as part of the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative’s <A HREF="http://energy.gov/eere/sunshot/orange-button-solar-bankability-data-advance-transactions-and-access-sb-data" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Orange Button program</A>. Orange Button aims to make it easier to access and share solar data, facilitating more efficient and cost-effective financing of distributed energy projects.
SunSpec Alliance heads the Orange Button project team that is tasked with establishing an open, easy-to-adopt, solar data architecture, and standards. <A HREF="https://xbrl.us/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">XBRL US</A> leads the effort to build the financial portion of Orange Button standards, leveraging elements from the U.S. GAAP Taxonomy for public companies, and from existing solar data standards.

Attend this one-hour session for an in-depth walk-through of the Orange Button Taxonomy. Learn about the use cases, groups and data fields that comprise the Taxonomy. Find out how to search through the viewing tool to identify data fields you need to begin creating and extracting XBRL-formatted solar financing data.

After exploring the Orange Button Taxonomy, the next step is to learn how to access Orange Button data via Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). During this session, get an introduction to Orange Button Open APIs that can be used to create and extract data used for solar financing. Use cases will be discussed and attendees will be directed to tools and documentation that they can use to get started working with Orange Button standards. Prerequisite: Orange Button Session 1
