Format: Hands-on hackathon for tackling your personal project backlog

6:00 - 6:30 PM | Arrival, Food & Networking (30 minutes)

  • Grab dinner and connect with fellow participants
  • Discuss what you plan to build with your fellow Claws
  • Get your environment set up and tested

6:30 - 7:00 PM | OpenClaw Crash Course (30 minutes)

Facilitators: Josh and Orrett

Fast-tracked introduction covering:

What & Why (10 minutes) Orrett

  • AI agents explained: autonomous task execution
  • OpenClaw framework capabilities and architecture
  • Real impact examples (business + personal use cases)

How to Build (15 minutes) Josh

  • Live 5-minute setup demo (EC2 or Mac Mini)
  • Essential best practices:
  • Security guardrails and data handling
  • Effective prompting techniques
  • Heartbeat monitoring basics
  • Quick Q&A

Your Night, Your Projects (5 minutes) Josh

  • This is time to work on your stuff
  • Pick something from your backlog you've been meaning to tackle
  • No judging, no competition—just focused building time
  • Resources and support available throughout

7:00 - 9:30 PM | Hackathon Building Time (2.5 hours)

Finally tackle that thing on your backlog!

Bring Your Own Challenge:

  • That automation you've been meaning to build
  • Personal workflow that needs streamlining
  • Side project you never have time for
  • Repetitive task you're tired of doing manually
  • Experiment you've been curious about
  • Internal tool that would make your life easier

Checkpoints:

  • 7:45 PM - Progress check-in (optional)
  • 9:00 PM - 30-minute warning
  • 9:15 PM - Finalize and prepare 3-minute demo

9:30 - 10:00 PM | Show & Tell Showcase (30 minutes)

Format: Volunteer lightning demos

  • 3 minutes per demo
  • Show what you built and what you learned
  • Doesn't need to be perfect—works-in-progress welcome!
  • Share your wins, learnings, and roadblocks

What to Share:

  • The backlog item you chose and why
  • Your approach and what worked
  • Surprising challenges or discoveries
  • Whether you'll keep building on it

What to Bring

  • Laptop with necessary access/permissions
  • Your personal project backlog (or ideas brewing in your head)
  • Curiosity and willingness to experiment
  • Any relevant data, specs, or context for your project

Pre-Event Setup (Recommended)

To maximize building time, complete these before arriving:

  • Install required dependencies
  • Test your development environment
  • Review [OpenClaw documentation link]
  • Think about what you want to build - come with a project in mind!
