OPEN YOUR PREZI’S Workshop
Tired of sending the same old “year in review” letter for the holidays? Spice it up this year with a colorful, multimedia “Prezi” that captures key photos, video and audio highlights from 2016.   Prezi allows you to add motion, zoom, and spatial relationships to bring your holiday greeting to life.  Here's a YouTube example of how you can create a fun, family year-in-review holiday greeting:

This workshop consists of 3 sessions that provide the instruction and the hands-on time you need to create your Prezi holiday greeting.  This workshop will be held at the digiSTORY Academy at 3210 Michigan Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64109.
Participants who complete the workshop requirements will earn an Open Your Prezi’s badge from LRNG-KC.
Here's a summary of what students will learn in each of the three workshop sessions:
Tuesday, Nov. 29th: 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

<LI>Working with Prezi: Learners will set up a free Prezi account and learn how to create a Prezi presentation that features a Christmas tree with ornaments.       Participants will learn how to format the ornaments to be placeholders for memorable photos, video and images from 2016. Participants will also add text to personalize their holiday greeting.</LI>
</UL>
Tuesday, Dec. 6th: 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
<UL>
<LI>Adding Your Media: Participants will learn how to embed photos, videos and music into their Christmas Tree greeting. They will learn how to use the navigation, drawing and other Prezi tools to achieve the look they desire for their greeting.</LI>
</UL>
Tuesday, Dec. 13th: 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

<LI>Publishing Your Prezi: Participants will set up a navigation path for viewing the greeting and will add a voiceover narrative discussing each of the year’s events depicted. They will add a music background track and publish their finished piece to the Internet. They will also learn how to translate the finished presentation into a movie file format.</LI>
</UL>
Workshop Fee: $35.00 (plus Eventbrite fee) covers all three sessions.  (Discounts are available for families facing financial hardship).  By registering for this Session 1: Working with Prezi session, you will automatically be registered for all three sessions.
 
FAQs
Do I need to bring anything to this workshop?
Computers are available in our classroom, but you may bring your own laptop if you prefer. You will also need to bring the photos  video clips and any other images you want to embed in your Prezi holiday greeting.  You also need to bring a flashdrive (4 GB or more) for saving and transferring your media files.
Is there a materials fee in addition to the workshop fee?
No. All materials are provided during the workshop.
Are discounts available for students whose families face financial hardships?
Yes—A key mission of digiSTORY KC is to make sure that every person gets to explore digital storytelling regardless of their ability to pay for workshop fees. digiSTORY KC has a set of guidelines to help families demonstrate the need for financial assistance. Will the student be able to publish their work where family and friends can see it?
Yes—students have the option of publishing their productions to the digiSTORY KC YouTube Channel:

You can also save the file as a video file which can be transfered to others on DVDs, flash drives, etc. 
Is parking available for this workshop?
Ample well-lighted parking is available on the west side of the building. The Linwood Area Ministry Place (LAMP) provides secure access throughout the building to assure a safe environment.
Are similar workshops available through digiSTORY KC?

Can I get a refund if the student can’t attend the workshop?
You can cancel your registration anytime prior to the workshop on the Eventbrite event site. No refunds will be given if we are not notified prior to the start of the first workshop session.
