About this event

Open Studio takes place every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month at our Ravenswood studio (unless otherwise stated). No RSVP needed, just stop on by anytime between 12-4pm and bring a friend!

Open Studio is for anyone who is interested in creating art and who believes in our vision of a world where survivors thrive! You do not need to be an Artist by profession or have taken art classes.

Come in with a project you’ve already started or come in and try any of the art supplies on our shelves. We will also have a few creative ‘starters’ out as options.

The focus of our Open Studios is giving individuals in our community unstructured, unfacilitated time to be together and create art.

There are two steps to enter the building. Dial 012 on the call box and we will buzz you in! Go up the stairs or front elevator to the 2nd floor, we are the last door on the right.

If you utilize a wheelchair, please email or call Awakenings ahead of your arrival and a staff member can direct you up to the studio in our freight elevator.

Awakenings mission is to provide trauma-informed, inclusive art-making experiences for survivors of sexual violence that encourage healing.

Organized by

Awakenings provides survivors of sexual violence with a trauma-informed, inclusive art-making experience that encourages healing.

We believe the power of art-making as healing is amplified when we integrate into a creative community. We help survivors of sexual violence heal through art by providing year-round art workshops, storytelling events, and more at our studio space in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago. Our programming allows survivors to connect with each other through communal, healing arts activities in a safe, trauma-informed environment.
