About this event

Join us every second Friday from 12:00pm - 8:00pm and fourth Friday from 12:00pm - 4:00pm (unless stated otherwise) for Open Studio! Our studio is available to everyone during our Open Studio hours, and we extend a warm invitation to all who support our mission to provide survivors of SV with inclusive art making experiences that encourages healing. No RSVP needed, just stop on by anytime between 12-8pm and bring a friend!

If you haven't been to our space before, you will be greeted by one of our staff members upon arrival and given a short tour around the studio. No art experience or professional background is needed. Bring your own project or explore the art supplies we have available for free. We’ll also have creative prompts to spark your inspiration! ✨

The focus of our Open Studio hours is giving individuals in our community unstructured, unfacilitated time to be together and create art.

There are two steps to enter the building. Dial 012 on the call box and we will buzz you in! Go up the stairs or front elevator to the 2nd floor, we are the last door on the right.

If you utilize a wheelchair, please email or call Awakenings ahead of your arrival and a staff member can direct you up to the studio in our freight elevator.

Awakenings provides survivors of sexual violence with a trauma-informed, inclusive art-making experience that encourages healing.

We believe the power of art-making as healing is amplified when we integrate into a creative community. We help survivors of sexual violence heal through art by providing year-round art workshops, storytelling events, and more at our studio space in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago. Our programming allows survivors to connect with each other through communal, healing arts activities in a safe, trauma-informed environment.
