Overview

Opening Line ...on Saturday, March 21st!

Welcome to Sacred Hands: A Jugalbandi Dance Dialogue Between Bharatanatyam and Igal! Join us for a mesmerizing fusion of two beautiful dance forms on Saturday, June 7th at 1:30PM & 5PM at the Kennedy Park Amphitheater in Union City.

Experience a dynamic fusion of movement and history in this jugalbandi performance, where the intricate hand gestures of Bharatanatyam meet the flowing expressions of the Sama dance form Igal. Through this rhythmic conversation, we explore how cultural knowledge is passed down, preserved, and transformed through migration—both forced and voluntary. This performance highlights the resilience of traditions, showing how dance carries the weight of history while continuing to evolve.

As part of an exciting day-long event, the performance will be surrounded by a lively marketplace featuring several local vendors offering handcrafted goods and cultural artifacts. This is more than just a showcase of movement—it’s an invitation to witness how migration shapes artistic expression and identity.

NEW ADDITION - We'll be having an open dance session featuring DJ Davy Smiles in between our Matinee & Gala shows from 2:45 PM - 4 PM.

Come immerse yourself in an experience that blends tradition with innovation, movement with storytelling, and history with the present. Celebrate the power of cultural exchange and the resilience of artistic heritage with us!
