Ohio Contemporary Ballet Center invites new teen/adult students wishing to try free dance classes for all ages and levels.

Our Dance for Everyone Teen/Adult classes are specifically designed for students ages 14+ and include an array of ballet classes in varying ability levels from new-to-ballet to advanced.

DANCE FOR EVERYONE TEEN/ADULT OPEN HOUSE FREE CLASSES

MONDAY, 6/3/24:

5:15pm-6:30pm Teen/Adult Beginning Ballet with Richard Dickinson, Studio A

For those with basic ballet skills, this class guides participants through the structured format of ballet training: barre work, across the floor, and dance combination. The instructor will assess the skills of the class and devise a program that will build upon the skills that they already possess.

6:30pm-8:00pm Teen/Adult Intermediate/Advanced Ballet with Richard Dickinson, Studio A

For the intermediate/advanced ballet dancer, this class will work on grace, precision of movement and elaborate formal gestures, steps, and poses. Coordination, strength, flexibility, rhythm and musicality are all emphasized. Our Advanced Ballet class will leave students refreshed and stimulated–both physically and artistically. Ballet shoes are required.

TUESDAY, 6/4/24:

5:30pm-6:30pm Teen/Adult New to Ballet with Lydia Marzluf, Studio A

Never set foot in a ballet class before? No problem!For adults interested in learning how to dance without any prior experience, this class will emphasize balance, coordination, flexibility, and core strength by teaching beginning barre exercises and simple combinations across the floor. Socks or ballet shoes are recommended.

7:00pm-8:30pm Teen/Adult Intermediate/Advanced Ballet with Christina Lindhout, Studio A

For students trying to get to the next level, this class constantly challenges students to refine their technique while learning more specific and technically advanced movements at the barre, in the center and across the floor. Grace, coordination, strength, flexibility, rhythm and musicality are all emphasized. This class will leave students refreshed and stimulated–both physically and artistically. Ballet shoes are required.

WEDNESDAY, 6/5/24:

This class challenges intermediate and advanced students to refine their technique while learning more specific and technically advanced movements at the barre, in the center and across the floor. Grace, coordination, strength, flexibility, rhythm and musicality are all emphasized.

11:30am-12:30pm Teen/Adult New to Ballet with Richard Dickinson, Studio A

Never set foot in a ballet class before? No problem! Interested in learning how to dance without any prior experience, this class will emphasize balance, coordination, flexibility, and core strength by teaching beginning barre exercises and simple combinations across the floor.

11:45am-12:30pm Teen/Adult Pointe with Antonio Morillo, Studio B

These exercises focus on strengthening the feet and ankles to enable the student to gracefully and safely perform steps en pointe.

SUNDAY, 6/9/24:

10:00am-11:00am Teen/Adult Progressive Ballet Technique with Kelly Korfhage, Studio A

Join Kelly Korfhage for Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) class! PBT is known around the world as the ultimate cross training, strengthening, and rehabilitation system for dancers looking to vastly improve in their ballet technique. Certified in 2019, Kelly is excited to bring PBT to our students at OCBallet Center!

Classes can be paid for with class passes or single drop-in class rates.

*A large stability/exercise ball and a small fusion ball (or a small rubber play ball) are highly recommended to get the most out of this workshop. If you do not have these at home, sanitized balls of both sizes are available to students of this PBT workshop to borrow for free. Only 10 balls of each size are available, first come first served. Students are also encouraged to bring a yoga mat for comfort when lying on the floor.

SUNDAY, 6/9/24:

11:00am-12:30am Teen/Adult Weekend Ballet with Kelly Korfhage, Studio A

Start your weekend mornings off right! Our Weekend Ballet class constantly challenges intermediate and advanced students to refine their technique while learning more specific and technically advanced movements at the barre, in the center and across the floor. Grace, coordination, strength, flexibility, rhythm and musicality are all emphasized. This class will leave students refreshed and stimulated–both physically and artistically. Ballet shoes are required.

Frequently asked questions

What should I wear?

Whatever you want! Athletic wear, sweats, or a leotard and tights-whatever makes you feel comfortable and ready to dance! Certain more advanced ballet classes do require ballet slippers, but for Beginning and New to Ballet classes socks are just fine!

In The Dealership at 3558 Lee Road in Shaker Heights.

Do I have to have danced before to try a class?

No! For Teens and Adults we suggest you try our New to Ballet for teen/adults which breaks everything down from the beginning to teach you all the basics. Youth classes join by age group. The children's classes offered on 6/8/24 are beginning. For higher levels contact jmarlzluf@ocballet.org.
