Open Signal, Portland Community Media Center invites you to our second open house of the year.
A more relaxed version of our blow-out in February, come to meet staff, pick up a brand new summer program catalog, learn about our unique resources and experience our media-maker showcase. 
All are welcome at this free community event!

Glitch Photo Booth 4-8pm, Studio B Use video synthesizer technology to glitch-out images of you and your friends! Led by Open Signal Media Educator, Claudia Meza.
"EMPATHEATRE", a screening and talk by Eileen Isagon Skyers 4:30-5:30pm, Studio A Brooklyn-based artist and curator Eileen Isagon Skyers will presents a short selection of curated videos and excerpts on the theme of time.
Skyers has worked for a number of contemporary art and non-profit arts organizations, including PNCA, the USF Contemporary Art Museum (Tampa, FL) and The Wassaic Project (Brooklyn, NY). Her moving-image work has been exhibited at Littman Gallery (Portland), Spielberg Theatre (LA), the International Streaming Festival for Audiovisual Art (The Hague, NL) and Superchief Gallery (NYC).
XRAY TV 4-10pm, Classroom Grab some popcorn and check out the fresh content made and curated by XRAY TV and the XRAY Film Collective. (XRAY TV is a collaboration between Open Signal and XRAY.FM.)
Projection, Sound, & Space at Open Signal 4-10pm, Flex Space Artists from Stephen Slappe's Projection, Sound, & Space course at PNCA will create a live, immersive video environment, using strategies for creating audience experiences in space and architecture with moving images and sound. 
This one-night-only event brings together the talents of 14 artists, including Frankie Lorenzini, Jamie Knowlton, Ruben Garcia Marrufo, Helen Moga, Hannah Concannon, Aruni Dharmakirthi, Mercedes Rajme, Zachary Pescador, Sarah Bailey, Marin Vesely, Casey Finn, Ivy Loughborough, Brazil Morgan and Alden Rogers.
Open Airstream 4-10pm, Backyard Meet the StreamPDX crew and take a tour of the cozy podcast recording studio in our backyard.  
Live Studio Audience: Blossom, Neka Perini and ASCXNSION Studio A, 8-10pm, Doors open 7:30pm Open Signal partners with XRAY.FM to present an evening of local hip-hop!
Alexis "ASCXNSION" Cannard is a young performing/visual artist and producer, born and raised in the St. Johns neighborhood of Portland. Exposure and experiences with domestic violence, sexual assault, racism and sexism from a young age molded Ascxnsion to utilize hip hop as a way to speak out and reflect on these kinds of issues.
Neka Perini is a singer/songwriter/producer who began her music career over five years ago. She has released two albums with her then-musical partner Kahlo, "7hirdwav3" and "Mayweather." Recently, Neka began a solo career, and will release her first independent album in the summer of 2017. Neka's production company Fugitive Girl Productions creates tracks for various hip-hop artists around the US.
Blossom's neo-soul voice and meaningful lyrics quickly found her a following among Portland's underground hip-hop scene. Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Blossom's experience as a back-up singer for a Portland R&B artist led her to writing songs of her own. After making her debut with her first solo EP, "Eclectic Garden," Blossom continuously aspires to create music that stirs the soul.
we/you/i are infinitely unique together  8-10pm, Backyard See "we/you/i are infinitely unique together," an installation created by Open Signal artist-in-residence Kello Goeller and middle school students at <A HREF="http://openmeadow.org/programs/open-school-north/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Open School North</A>.
This spring, Goeller worked with students in Blaine Burnham’s math class to learn about the basics of fractals, the concept of infinity and how these ideas connect the beauty of the natural world with math. 
Inspired by the prompt "What makes you infinite?," the students created kaleidoscopic animations. These will be displayed via a ten-foot-tall, twenty-foot-wide sound-reactive pyramid, with video projections visible from both the outside and inside of the structure. See Kello's past work <A HREF="http://www.kelloworld.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">on their website</A>.

Open Signal is located off the #6 or #4 bus line. If you are driving to Open Signal, we have a parking lot located on NE Graham. Our main entrance is located on NE Graham off of NE MLK.
<H2>Refund Policies for Events</H2>
You must cancel up to 72 hours in advance to receive a full refund. There will be no refunds or transfers if you cancel with less than three days notice or fail to show up.
