FAQs:

Who are we looking for?
Anyone and everyone who is willing to be positive and open-minded about new experiences. Just bring a positive attitude, meet new people, and train with us on and off the water.

What are people on the team like?
Members reflect a broad range of age, professions, interests and backgrounds from all over the San Francisco Bay Area. We are all united in working together as a team to pursue our passion for good food, fun and of course dragon boating. Come out to a practice and find out what the team is all about!

Is paddling experience required?
Prior paddling experience is not required. We will teach you form, technique and timing.

What is the duration of a practice session?
Practices typically last between a hour and a half to two hours. This usually includes warm ups, line ups and water time.

What should I bring and wear to practice?
Equipment such as paddles and life jackets will be provided. Water resistant, quick drying, shorts or pants, an athletic top are usually the preferred attire. Synthetics are always the best choice for breathability and ability to dry quickly. Flip-flops, sandals, or water shoes are suggested for footwear. Also, be sure to bring a towel, bottle of water, and sunscreen.

Do I need to know how to swim?
Entry into the water is exceptionally rare and the use of life jackets are required. You do not need to know how to swim.

Does the team participate in out-of-town or international races?
Yes! We are one of the most well traveled teams in the Bay Area racing to destinations such as China, Macau, and Canada. Closer to home, we've raced in San Diego, Long Beach, and Portland. Traveling for races is optional but highly encouraged.

Do team members participate in other activities outside of paddling?
In addition to paddling together, we are also very active in promoting the growth of dragon boating in the San Francisco Bay Area. When not on the water, members often get together for dinner parties, hikes, board game nights, happy hour socials, and general fun & camaraderie.
