The Web Foundation’s Open Data Lab Jakarta functions as a research and innovation lab focused on harnessing the potential of open data for social impact. We seek to develop, test and evaluate models, and build evidence for the value of openly available government data to tackle practical problems faced by developing and emerging economies in in the Southeast Asia region.The Open Data Jam Session is a part of "Innovating for Open Cities Project", an initiative supported byMaking All Voices Count. The overall objective of the project is to act as a data innovation intermediary by providing activists, entrepreneurs and researchers, as well as champions from government, with the infrastructure, knowledge and network to develop, prototype and test their ideas for data driven solutions aimed at realizing a just and thriving society.Organised bySupported by

<H2>Business, Civic Engagement and Beyond: Lessons from New York City Urban Data Analytics</H2>
 
The Open Data Jam Session is a series of regular informal discussion organized by Open Data Lab Jakarta from the Web Foundation, to build and foster a diverse, interdisciplinary community that benefits from the experience and expertise of its members. The session started in August 2016.
People are invited to jam and speak-up to share their opinions on a specific issue and try to look for solutions in (open) data, transparency, public participation, and civic tech. At the end of each event, participants are expected to learn from each other, as the start of building a collaborative effort to come up with approaches to tackle civic issues together. The 2nd Open Data Jam Session is co-organized together with the Jakarta Smart City and Ramda Yanurzha.
 
About the Co-Organizer:
<A HREF="http://smartcity.jakarta.go.id/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jakarta Smart City</A> comes from the concept of an intelligent city with the use of technology and communications to enhance public participation and government to utilize data, applications, provide feedback and criticism easily; in order to achieve better public services.
 
Who will speak:
Ramda Yanurzha is an open data dan civic tech advocate based in Jakarta. His works, primarily in IT and development, span from kickstarting Government of Indonesia open data portal (data.go.id) to supporting various NGOs on using data to deliver social impact across the region. He recently graduated from New York University Center of Urban Science and Progress, focusing on leveraging open data and big data to make more livable and equitable cities a reality. He now works as research data scientist at a nonprofit as well as volunteering data analyst at Jakarta Smart City initiative. 1. Knowledge and experience sharing from prominent speaker(s), followed with insightful discussion where everyone is entitled to speak-up and share opinions.
2. An opportunity to meet and connect with a wide range of actors and champions (from government, civic, and tech communities)
3. You will be part of a diverse and interdisciplinary community that benefits from the experience and expertise of its members
4. You will be able to formulate a collaborative actions that can be taken together with other participants
5. Discussion will be in Bahasa Indonesia
6. Last but not least: free light bites and drinks
