Open critique session held at Crestworth, a newly-established arts collective on Upper 14th St NW

Crestworth invites local DC artists to participate in group critique in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere and receive feedback on any current works-in-progress, portfolio preparation efforts, finished projects or to observe and engage in the critique process in a community environment. Artists of all backgrounds, media, and skill level are encouraged to participate!Tours of available studio spaces will be provided for any artists interested in joining the collective.The critique will be led by guest artist Katherine Akey and supported by current Crestworth members.About Crestworth:An enduring 1909 Wardman structure, this building's unique layout and location spoke loudly from even the first visit. Under new stewardship, 4602 14th emerges as a collective of spaces for creatives to create. This inventive configuration repurposed as a place for imagination and creativity to flourish; a stack of utilitarian rooms available as artist studios. About Katherine Akey:Katherine Akey is an artist based in Washington, DC. Her work addresses adventure, the human spirit, and the turn of the century and its many cultural upheavals. She graduated from the International Center of Photography at Bard’s MFA program in 2014 after completing her BA in Psycholinguistics at NYU in 2011. She was most recently a Fellow with the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs as part of the program The Living Legacy of World War One, and is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor in Photography at the Corcoran School of the Arts at George Washington University.Details:Drinks and light refreshments will be served. Meet &amp; greet begins at 2pm, critique session from 3pm-5pm.All types of easily transportable media are encouraged to bring for discussion. There will be a 15" MacBook onsite for use to display digital media brought by artists on a USB flash drive, or sent via WeTransfer, DropBox or Google Drive link to Olivia@Crestworth.net. Please be sure to attach artist's name and contact information to digital files sent in advance of the event.
