About this event

This training is designed for people who want to become certified Carpentries instructors. Read more and check out our complete calendar.

Training is offered online. Please confirm the date and time of this event in your local time before registering.

How to Register

To register for this event, click "Tickets" and enter the code from your invitation.

Registration will close one week before this training.

How to Connect to the Training

This event will be conducted online using the Zoom video conferencing platform. You will *not* receive connection information through Eventbrite.

6 days before the event you will receive an email from instructor.training@carpentries.org with preparation instructions and connection information.

If you do not receive this email, please check your spam folder and email instructor.training@carpentries.org. Please note that this mailbox is not continuously monitored, so be sure to check for this email well ahead of the time of your training.

Please contact instructor.training@carpentries.org with any other questions.

If You Need to Reschedule or Cancel

Cancellation may be performed in Eventbrite up to the start of the event. To support our program and honor the time donated by our Instructor Trainers, we ask that cancellations be made as far in advance as possible to allow other trainees to register before the 1 week deadline.

After a registration has been cancelled in Eventbrite, the code that was used to register will become available to sign up for a different event.

If a trainee repeatedly registers and cancels (>3 times), or registers for more than one seat at the same time, they may be barred from further registration.

More details on our cancellation and makeup policy are available in The Carpentries Handbook.

If We Cancel the Event

In rare cases, events may be cancelled due to low enrollment. If this happens, you will be notified two weeks before the event and will have the opportunity to sign up for a future event.

How to Request an Accommodation

We do not require participants to provide documentation of disabilities or disclose any unnecessary personal information. However, we do want to help create an inclusive, accessible experience for all participants. We encourage you to share any information that would be helpful to make your Carpentries experience accessible. To request an accommodation for this training, please fill out the accommodation request form.

About Carpentries Instructor Training

This training is designed for people who want to become certified Carpentries instructors. We recommend that you be familiar with at least one of the technologies that we teach (R, Python, the Unix bash shell, SQL, OpenRefine, spreadsheet software, and/or Git) before taking Instructor Training. This training will not teach any of those subjects, but will instead focus on developing skill and knowledge about evidence-based teaching practices and workshop procedures.

For more information about what will be covered at this training as well as a sample schedule, check out our Instructor Training Curriculum.

In addition to Instructor Training, certification as a Carpentries Instructor includes 3 short ‘checkout’ tasks. For more details, see our Checkout Instructions page.
