Introduction to Electricity Volumes 1, 2, & 3 has been approved by The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 18, as an equivalent to the Hayden Electrical Course.
This self-paced online course will introduce basic electrical concepts including charge, voltage, current, energy and power. The class is free and open to anyone interested in pursuing a career in various electrical trades. After registering on Eventbrite, login credentials to the Learning Management System will be emailed to you, usually the morning of the following business day (Monday - Friday).
Taking the course will also help participants to meet minimum requirements to apply for several positions at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP).

3. Electrical Quantities and Ohm’s Law
4. Static Electricity
5. Magnetism
6. Electro Magnetism
After signing up, a staff member will reach out to you regarding class details and accessing the course materials. Upon successful completion of Volume 1, you will receive information regarding how to register for Volume 2 and Volume 3. It is strongly encouraged that students complete all three volumes. Each student that successfully completes Volume 1, Volume 2, and Volume 3 will earn a certificate.
