On the Threshold presents three short films from South Korea, Hong Kong, and Iran. The Center is shut down following the death of Suri’s fellow technician, Tien Linh, in an accident at work. Some time later, Suri receives a cryptic email from Lo, a digital persona split from Tien Linh. Lo claims that Tien Linh was captured and detained while attempting to migrate into the simulation world, and asks Suri to track them down and rescue them. Guided by Lo, Suri begins to inhabit the records Tien Linh left behind as if they were his own. In the process, he connects to Tien Linh’s Seoul, to their life and memories. Four disappointed young people meet each other at a rave party, finding bliss under the influence of drugs. Stranded and waiting to be delivered, as the lost souls witness the void and pain they leave behind in the world of the living, each must reckon and reconcile their scarred former lives, every unrequited dream and relationship, before they can finally arrive at the real land of bliss.
