About this event

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION (TWICE)

Coslor Cove caretaker, Sarah Garlick, will be giving a tour of OSR Green's 1,298-acre Coslor Cove property, where we are just beginning to build a 200-family self-reliance community. Coslor Cove will be similarly organized as our 1st off-grid town, Riverbed Ranch, Utah, where our 130+ shareholders are already constructing wells, homes, greenhouses and barns! Over 140 people live there full-time at this point, with room for about 800 more.

  • Guided tour of Coslor Cove will start at about 1pm.
  • Bring a water bottle & sack lunch (and snacks, if you're bringing children).
  • Granola bars, Gatorade, etc., are available for purchase in our fledgling Co-op Store.
  • Restroom and limited cell service available.
  • Plan for at least 40 minutes each way if coming from Snowflake.
  • You will need to bring a vehicle that has at least 6 inces of clearance.
  • Unless you have a truck or SUV with even greater clearance, we'd recommend you approach Coslor Cove from the North via Snowflake and the Concho Highway.
  • For our neighbors' benefit, please only drive 30 on the dirt roads so their homes and cars aren't covered in dust.

IMPORTANT: RSVP by registering for a free "ticket" so we can inform you if we have to postpone the tour due to weather.

Since Google Maps will take you on forbidden paths, you'll want to follow these directions.
In fact, copy and paste them into a document and print it for your trip.

  1. Go East out of Snowflake on Concho Hwy for 9.4 miles.
  2. Turn South on El Dorado road (please don't drive faster than 30mph),
  3. After going 4.0 miles, turn left on San Carlos,
  4. Right on Del Contento,
  5. Right on Zuni,
  6. Follow this road (it will turn into different roads like Aztec and Del Contento, but just keep following it)
  7. Right on Alamo lane and go over the hill,
  8. Left down the hill and it will turn into Yellow Rose,
  9. Right at the next intersection (it's unmarked, but it will be your first available right),
  10. Stay to the left at the fork in the road.
  11. Take your next left through a large gate (our sign will be there),
  12. Drive in until you see a house to your left. Park there.
  • Please register. If you don't, the tour guide will be tempted to stay home and clean out her garage. ;)

Preparation for the Tour

If you haven't already, please watch at least a presentation our founder, Philip Gleason made about "Operation Self-Reliance". It explains how this all got started and introduces Coslor Cove and Riverbed Ranch, our first two off-grid communities.

^^^ Aerial view of the Southeast corner of Coslor Cove. This area is where the pond, solar power system, greenhouse and most of the existing structures sit.

Shows the Coconino aquifer from which all our wells will be supplied with water.

Notice that Phoenix (which is having water shortages) doesn't get it's water by drilling into our aquifer.

This shows all 20 parcels that were merged into one and makes up Coslor Cove, named after the couple that ran this off-grid retreat for the past 20 years or so. The Welcome Center is located in the lower corner of the blue-outlined section.

Close up of the man-made pond on the property. It's more impressive in person!

This home currently serves as our Welcome Center. The tours start here!
