Pepeluali (February) is Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi and itʻs the first-ever ʻŌlelo Jam!

Halau 'Inana

On Saturday, February 29, 2020, Hālau ʻĪnana in Kapaʻakea-Mōʻiliʻili will transform into a kīpuka 'ōlelo. We invite poʻe aloha ʻōlelo to come and co-create digital content in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi for community -- kumu, uni students, kaiapuni students, kupuna as well as new learners. No tech experience is needed; just the ʻiʻini (desire) to ʻōlelo and create a better world for us ma ka ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi!Together, weʻll unihi (translate) crowd-source captions in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi using our community tool and chrome extension, ʻŌLELOFLIX, for a show or movie on Netflix! A selection of completed scenes will be premiered. The translated captions will be available online immediately for anyone that subscribes to Netflix.In addition: -Play with Purple Maiʻaʻs own version of Code Combat called Code Haumana. Code Haumana can be used to teach how to code, but it can also be used to teach ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi.-ʻŌlelo Factory! Use graphic design and ʻōlelo to create vlogs, memes, stickers this kauhana will spread positive vibes through messaging.MC for the night is Beau Shishido, Papakolea native and Masterʻs candidate at UH Mānoa. This jam is FREE. Meaʻai, giveaways, and a surprise DJ will be present. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or adult chaperone.
