The District lies between the Occoquan River on the north and Prince William Parkway/Opitz Boulevard on the south. It stretches east to I-95 and west to the Manassas area.The Occoquan District is an exciting and diverse community. The District is blend of residential communities, with the suburban Old Bridge Corridor in the east and a more semi-rural Davis Ford Corridor in the west. The scenic Historic Town of Occoquan is a favorite for local and regional visitors, boasting many unique shops and restaurants as well as the biannual Occoquan Arts and Crafts show. For sports fans, the District is the current home of the Minor League Potomac Nationals baseball team at Pfitzner Stadium, a BMX track, two golf courses, two libraries and several parks. The Occoquan District is also home to the Potomac Mills Outlet Mall and many other businesses and nonprofit organizations which draw people from around the region. In addition, the McCoart Government Complex is located in the center of the District.The schools in the Occoquan District are among some of the best in the country. Our seven elementary schools, Lake Ridge Middle School, and Woodbridge Senior High School routinely receive national awards and are often named “Schools of Excellence”. <DIV><SPAN>An engineering study “Old Bridge Road Corridor Improvement Study” is underway by Parsons Corporation. The goals of the Task Order are to improve the mobility of motorists along Old Bridge Road between Prince William Parkway and Gordon Boulevard (VA 123) and to improve the safety of motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians using the corridor. In addition to their own analysis, the engineers are using community input gathered at multiple “congestion think tank” meetings our office hosted over the past two years. A Final Concept Report is due later in 2018. In the meantime residents are welcome to call our office and learn more about the study and/or to participate in a Public Information Meeting on Thursday, February 22nd from 6:00 to 9:00 pm in the Old Bridge Elementary School cafeteria.</SPAN></DIV>
