Off-Camera Flash Bootcamp

Class Description:

Ready to take control of your lighting?
This one day, hands-on workshop will help you master your external flash, strobe and studio lighting.

Class Schedule:

• Morning Portion: Lighting Fundamentals
  We’ll start the day by covering the fundamentals of lighting. You’ll learn about flash and strobe settings, lighting modifiers, and how to position your lights to achieve the look you want.
• Lunch Break
  We’ll take a lunch break midway through the day. Food will not be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own lunch or grab something from one of the nearby restaurants.
• Afternoon Portion: Hands-On Practice
  During the second half of class, you’ll have the opportunity to put what you’ve learned into practice. We’ll work with our rental strobes from Godox and Westcott, and triggers will be available for Canon, Nikon, and Sony cameras, and limited compatibility for Fuji cameras. If you use a different camera brand, please reach out to us before registering so we can confirm compatibility. You’re also welcome — and encouraged — to bring your own Godox or Westcott trigger if you have one!

Recommended Prerequisite:

This class is an intermediate level class, designed for Mirrorless and DSLR Interchangeable Lens Cameras. You should have a basic understanding of controlling your camera's manual exposure settings - ISO, shutter speed, and aperture.

Do I need to pre-register?

Yes, we have limited seating, so pre-registration is required. Don’t wait to sign up—if we don’t meet the minimum registration requirements, the class may be canceled. Secure your spot today!

What do I bring to class?

• We will provide a printout of the PowerPoint slides for you to take notes on. You will be able to take the PowerPoint notes home.
• If you'd like to write down any questions you have, you're welcome to bring those with you. We will do our best to get to as many of your questions as we can.
• Be sure to bring your camera, charged battery, and memory card. You do not need to bring your own flash, but you are welcome to if you have questions or want to practice on your own equipment. You are also encouraged to bring your own trigger if you have Godox or Westcott triggers. We will have triggers available for Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Fuji (only for Westcott).
