OETA Playful Learning for Educators 

Ready to Learn is a community engagement and outreach program designed to support the education of Oklahoma’s early learners.  Leveraging OETA’s world-class children’s television programming like Curious George, SuperWhy and Cat in the Hat, the Ready to Learn program empowers teachers and caregivers with tools and training while maximizing every opportunity for learning in traditional and non-traditional learning environments.

A one-day workshop designed to support early childhood educators through exploring and developing playful learning experiences for young learners using age-appropriate media and technology from PBS KIDS. This event is free and breakfast and lunch will be provided.

10:00am to 12:30pm   Opening Session                                                                                                         Creating a playful learning environment that integrates media content to help support learning objectives.  Explore how digital content can factor into children's play and learning while supporting critical 21st century skills.
12:30pm to 1:00pm          Chat n' Chew 
1:00pm to 4:00pm            Breakout Sessions* 
A. Hands-On Learning with PBS Kids Scratch Jr.                                                                                           This workshop explores different approaches to hands-on learning and serves as an introduction to coding for young learners.  Using the PBS KIDS Scratch Jr. app participants will explore different ways of engaging in hands-on learning and will have the time to explore the value and effectiveness of utilizing these different approaches within the context of their own practice.
B. Inquiry with The Cat In The Hat                                                                                                                        In this workshop educators will explore hands-on, learner-centered experiences that are designed to support young learners engagement with scientific inquiry.  Participants will make connections between the activities, featured media content from The Catin the Hat Knows a Lot About That!, and their own practice.
C. Engineering with Ruff Ruffman                                                                                                                        In this workshop educators will explore hands-on, learner centerd experiences that are designed to support young learners engagement with the engineering design process.  Participants will make connections between the activies, featured media content from The Ruff Ruffman Show, and their own practice.
