Description

Join the elite umpires of the Old Dominion Softball Umpires Association (ODSUA) for their fall training to become a member of the Association and begin to officiate adult slow pitch softball in Northern Virginia.

Training Schedule
The training schedule includes both classroom and on the field training and will be held on consecutive Saturdays. Attendance at a majority of the training is required to pass the course and be released to work as an umpire for ODSUA. Approval for missing any of the training must be coordinated with the Umpire in Chief. The tentative training schedule is provided in the following table (to be updated as the times and locations are confirmed):

POLICIES
Independent Contractor - Upon successful completion of the training and an acceptable evaluation, a student will be eligible to work as an independent contractor for ODSUA. The training does not constitute an offer of employment. Fitness for work assignments is determined at the sole discretion of the Umpire in Chief and the members of the ODSUA board. All applicable forms must be completed and all relevant fees paid before work will be assigned. Additional requirements apply for full membership to ODSUA. Prospective umpires must be U.S. citizens or eligible to work in the United States.

Refunds - Refunds will only be given upon a written request from the registered student. Only $50 of the $85 training cost is refundable. The rest of the money is committed to delivery of the training.

No Shows - Students who do not show up to the training will not be eligible to work as an ODSUA umpire. Any refund must be requested in writing.

Partial Attendance - Students who only attend part of the training may or may not be eligible to be evaluated to work as an ODSUA umpire. This will be at the sole discretion of the Umpire in Chief.
