Join Master Storyteller and Musican Odds Bodkin for ODIN AND THOR BATTLE THE FROST GIANTS, an evening of storytelling for adults. While alternating between two 12-string guitars and Celtic harp, Odds offers Viking lore followed by two long tales in a 90-minute performance.
Sell-out crowds on Harvard Square love this show. Now Odds is bringing it to New Hampshire!
LORE
Why is Russia named after the Vikings? What were the Nine Worlds of giants, dwarves, gods and men? How did Odin obtain the Runes by hanging from a cosmic tree? How is Thor's name related to doors, oaks and endurance? Learn this lore and much more.
THE TALES
Next comes THOR'S JOURNEY TO UTGARD, a long tale performed with character voices, vocal effects and a score on 12-string guitar. Thor and Loki journey to the land of the Frost Giants to prove Thor's strength, only to become enmeshed in magic and illusion.
Lastly, Odds tells THE MEAD OF POETRY, the tale of Odin's quest to return his best friend's blood--which has been brewed into an elixir of wisdom--to Asgard. With a second 12-string guitar, Odds uses voices for crafty dwarves, Odin himself, and no few giants, including a deadly giantess who sings badly.
This performance is appropriate for adults and children 12 and up.
