About this event

  • 3 hours 30 minutes

Sunday Assembly Los Angeles is a secular community that meets monthly to hear great talks, connect for service projects, sing songs and generally celebrate life. Together we aim to Live Better, Help Often and Wonder More, all without dogma or deities. Assemblies are free to attend, and everyone is welcome.

We are thrilled to announce that in October 2024, for the first time ever, Los Angeles is hosting the Sunday Assembly International Conference, which on Oct 20th culminates in a global, all-star Assembly. Like-minded friends are gathering from all over the map to learn, inspire, sing and celebrate our shared humanity with us.

The Assembly will run approximately 11am-12:30pm at a special, one-time venue in Venice Beach, followed by a SALA-style potluck at an Assembler's home in the neighborhood.

Please note: tickets for the conference must be purchased separately. Even if you have purchased a conference ticket, we strongly encourage you to either add the Oct 20 Sunday Assembly add-on to your conference ticket or reserve this free ticket to the Oct 20th Sunday Assembly to help us plan. For more about our regular Assembly and calendar of events, visit sundayassemblyla.org.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Sunday Assembly LA usually held?

Our Assemblies take place at 11am on the 2nd Sunday of each month at CFI West: 2535 W Temple St, Los Angeles, CA 90026 . We also have many other events throughout the month, which you can read about at sundayassemblyla.org, or look for us on facebook, insta, etc.

What is the parking situation for the October 20th Assembly?

As far as we know right now, only street parking is available. But while we encourage you to carpool, rideshare and leave time, parking in the area is almost always plentiful on Sundays. The Assembly is also in walking distance from the conference venue and a lot of lodging in the neighborhood.

Who do I contact if I want to find out about or start an Assembly in my area?

Kudos to you! Check out sundayassembly.com!

I'd like to help with the potluck. What do I do?

Thank you so much! This is how the magic happens! (Alas, it's not magic. It's just well-meaning, brave and hard-working people like you. So again, thank you.) Pls contact Aaron at coeus100@gmail.com. Also, it helps so much if you can label with ingredients & categories (vegan, gluten-free). Thanks!

Can I bring my child(ren) to Sunday Assembly?

Absolutely! Assemblies are family-friendly, and we do our best to inform families ahead of time about any complicated themes. Free childcare is provided during Assemblies while you are on premises, and children are also welcome to join everyone else for the event.

Where do I go for the potluck?

There will be instructions on site and organizers leading groups to the nearby potluck location. If you brought food, thanks! We'll have plenty of time to serve and eat and socialize.

What if I have food allergies?

Many of our community members have food restrictions, so we try to keep everything labeled. Of course in a pot luck situation this is complicated, so we recommend you bring something you can eat just in case.

How can I help?

There are SO many ways, and we'd love nothing more than to help you find a way to contribute that works best for you. Please contact amy@sundayassemblyla.org. Or if you're looking to help sustain Sunday Assembly financially, check out sundayassemblyla.org/donate or sundayassembly.com.

I didn't buy enough tickets. Can we still get in?

Almost certainly. RSVPs help us plan for chairs and coffee, but we always do our best to accommodate everyone. In the unlikely event that we have more attendees than fire codes allow, we will admit on a first come, first served basis.
